“IEWS Participated with Two Presentations at the 4th UPWSP Conference in Ramallah 2017
The first one introduced by Dr Rashed Al-Sa`ed, IEWS Director, explored how cutting-edge treatment technologies for wastewater treatment and reuse can enhance the Palestinian water services. Dr. Al-Sa`ed affirmed the notion that reclaimed water use is necessary in Palestine, where decision makers shall integrate that as a national security element within the water cycle.
the second presentation prepared by Dr. Nidal Mahmoud, where he underlined the role of the anaerobic treatment of domestic wastewater using upflow anaerobic sludge blanket preceded by an engineered septic tank. This hybrid treatment technology is installed in rural areas and suitable for a decentralized option.
Dr. Maher Abu Madi together with Dr. Al-Sa`ed helped in the screening and review of the submitted papers, as members in the conference scientific committee.
M.Sc. students, water and environmental engineering and science programs, utilized the opportunity and attend the second day of the conference.
The Union of Palestinian Water Service Providers (UPWSP) acknowledged the role of IEWS of Birzeit University provided, for which certificates and awards were granted.”
